Food Pantry
This Institution is an Equal
Opportunity Provider.
A Ministry of St. Mark’s
Lutheran Church
The Food Pantry works with CAC (Community
Action Coalition) to provide staples to anyone in need of food that resides
in Dane County. Participants are allowed to choose their own food based on
food preferences and dietary needs.

Supporting Families at 185% of Poverty Level
While the Friday Meal is a community meal and everyone is welcome, it is
recommended that the Food Pantry support families who are at 185% of the
poverty level. For example, a family of four may have an income of $44,000.
That may sound like a solid middle class salary but if they also have old
medical bills or other unpaid bills, they would be welcome at the food
pantry. Guests do not show us their financial situation, only an ID. This is
just an example to demonstrate we would like to support families who may be
working but still struggling financially.
Poverty Guidelines
We are so thankful for the congregations that
partner with us providing food and volunteers. According to Federal
government poverty guidelines, families that are eligible for the food
pantry include: a family of one with an annual income of $21, 978, a family
of two with an annual income of $29, 637, a family of three with an annual
income of $37, 296, a family of four with an annual income of $44, 955 and
so on. While some families are able survive on these incomes other families
struggle often because of medical expenses. Thank you for this important
ministry!
