Pastor Lisa Nelson is a pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, serving in the South Central Synod of Wisconsin, but she grew up in Fresno California and attended Fresno State. She studied French and English and spent her junior year in France. However by senior year, her interest in theology won out, and she applied to Luther Seminary in St Paul Minnesota.

Seminary was a wonderfully intense experience, and when she graduated in 1993, she was called to Wiota Lutheran Church in the southwest corner of the state. At that time, the town of Wiota boasted a population of 100, but the congregation included over 400 baptized members.

Despite the culture shock, Pastor Lisa enjoyed the people and the ministry in Wiota. In 1998, she moved to Madison to serve as an associate pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church. She soon married Robb Kosky, who is also an ELCA pastor, and in 2001, they had twin boys, Matthew and Nathan. Soon after that, Pastor Lisa went on leave from call to care for the babies.

During this leave, Lisa taught Christian Theology and Lutheran Confessions through the synod's Lay School of Ministry and worked part time for the synod as Assistant to the Bishop for Youth and Family Ministry. In 2005, they had another son, Seth, and in 2008, Pastor Lisa was called as the part time, associate pastor of Faith Lutheran in Columbus Wisconsin. Then in 2019, she became St Mark’s solo pastor, where she has again found great people with whom to do ministry.
